Icy Roads = Jeep Flip - Update

A few of the SJ folks know who I am...I mostly ride with GBR, but have been at a few SJ rides recently.

Last night I rolled my Jeep when I hit an icy patch on an overpass on 400.
I am physically OK, but I am looking for some stock parts to try and get the Jeep back to as close to stock as possible. The list is below. If you have any of these, please let me know.

It is a 2002 TJ, but most TJ parts are interchangable.

stock front bumper
stock rear bumper
stock front & rear axles (30 front, and I don't care
about the rear - 35 or 44) if you have a TJ axle with
the stock brackets on it, I need it.
(I don't care if
the gear ratios match, or how ugly they are, or even if the work)

NP231 T-case
stock t-case skid plate

All of the above is assuming insurance will not cover all of the after market parts. The ones that I am most concerned about are the axles (stock, but built) my winch, and my atlas.

Thanks in advance.

Ryan

That's a tough break. Now I know why a cage is a good idea. Glad you're OK. Only stock part I have lying around is a wheel/spare but you're welcome to it if needed.

wow Ryan that sucks, glad you are ok though. I will keep my eyes out for p[art.

is it totaled? are you going to try to get insureance to cover it? you might be suprised but according to insurance laws you have the right to get NEW stock replacement parts. that doesn't sound but but when you consider a stock 231 from the dealer is $2200 you have enough to cover your atlas. I believe the axles arte $1800ish each as well. if they aren't going to total it then you can probably get most of your money back for the parts.

go out and get 6 quotes for the replacment parts and labor, take the top three prices and give them to your insurance adjuster. you have the right to get the work done where you want as well.

Sorry to see that

Sorry to see that damage. I dont have any TJ parts but my heart is sick over the damage. Are you building another TJ? Did you need help getting the aftermarket parts off? Can you get the Jeep to your house?

glad to hear your alright, I don't have anything at the moment but will keep my eyes open for you. I also rolled my jeep due to ice over a year ago 99yj. It was still drivable to get home but they totalled it. You have to be firm with them though on your parts (but its been my luck that it seemed the adjuster(s) were very cooperative on my deals (paid jeep off + $5000. in my pocket). What I didn't realize at the time that actually I was hurt and just didn't know it at the time. Dunno why I didn't feel it then. But it dammageed my back and put me out of work for many months, so be careful to be too hasty with a settlement.
Hope this helps you (I shouldn't have been too hasty when it was my turn).

I don't know if it will be totalled. They are planning to go look at it on Monday. I have every receipt for every piece that has ever been put on the Jeep. According to the adjuster "anything that adds value to the vehicle" is taken into account when it is totaled. If they deem that something doesn't add value, it will be coming off. The question is do I have to put a stock piece back in its place? - I've heard conflicting accounts on this one.

I'll be back off roading, but I think I may get something more suited to daily driving first, and get a trail only rig in the future.

FYI - apparently I flipped 3-4 times, and I just have the stock cage. Everything worked as it was supposed to, but you can see that the windshield is toast. I will definately put a full cage in my next Jeep before I do anything else.

thatwas what I had the stock cage and I also rolled 3 times (fortunately I landed back on my wheels), And yes they will adjust for your parts (but not full value) So the best I can say is anything that is salvagable take off it (if your gonna reuse them in the future or sell them). The adjuster even paid me for my offroad light kit Wink But I didnt get full value for the new tires I had just put on it or wheels...so that being said wait if you want to and see what they offer you (they will itemize for you if you ask) and if what they offer for those mods is right then let them have it (its all a matter of preference) however you won't be given much time for this as they will want to most likely haul it off to a specific location to do the full adjustment. So be prepared.
